Savoie leather, a leather that is resistant to aging | Setouchi Leather
From skin to leather
Tanning is the process of treating leather, which would otherwise rot, so that it can be used for a long time.
There are various tanning methods, but Savoie leather is a type of leather that has been "chrome tanned."
Leather is made by removing proteins and fats from the skin using a chemical called chromium sulfate. Compared to other tanning methods, it is a lighter material and is less prone to aging.
It is used in items that aim to give a long-lasting "elegant impression."

Commitment to domestic leather
The leather used for Kawanishi bags is "Setouchi Leather".
This is 100% Japanese leather made from cows raised in the Setouchi region. We use leather that is carefully selected to make each item unique, using a manufacturing process that makes the most of the material's unique characteristics. The simple manufacturing process allows you to enjoy the changes that occur over time.

Various colors
Savoie leather is available in Oriental Blue (navy blue), Strawberry (red), Coffee Bean (dark brown), Garden (ash brown) and Cappuccino (beige) .
Threads selected to match the color of the leather
At Kawanishi Kaban, we use different stitching threads to match the various colors of leather.
Genuine leather has its own unique dye finish, so you need to choose thread that matches the color of the leather. Changing the thread every time is not an efficient way to go.
However, products made with threads that are perfectly suited to leather have a neat and elegant appearance.
"We want to spare no effort in pursuing the style we are aiming for," and this commitment is also reflected in the way we choose our yarns.
*Leather is natural.
Each piece has a different surface texture, with wrinkles, stains, and scratches.
We do our best to minimize discrepancies, but please be aware that the texture of the product you receive may differ from that in the photo.
(We deliver products that are free of quality issues.)
