Winter is just around the corner. When winter comes, one thing we really hate is static electricity.
In my blog post updated the other day ( What is the difference between nylon and polyester? The origins of the two major synthetic fibers ), I was researching various things about fabrics and I came to understand why static electricity occurs. Although it has nothing to do with bags, today I would like to explain why static electricity occurs and how to prevent it.

Well it has nothing to do with bags but thank you.

Why does static electricity occur?

Electricity has positive and negative charges.
When the negative pole moves, the light comes on.
The positives help the negatives move.

Some objects tend to become negatively charged, while others tend to become positively charged.
In order to maintain balance, each object wants negative electricity or tries to reduce negative electricity.

When these two objects come into contact, the negative charge moves towards the positive charge.
This movement is how static electricity is generated.

In essence, static electricity is the movement of charged electricity.

Nylon is prone to positive charging, while polyester is prone to negative charging.

I didn't mention this in my blog ( What is the difference between nylon and polyester? The origins of these two major synthetic fibers ), but nylon is actually more likely to become positively charged, while polyester is more likely to become negatively charged.
This is also one of the differences between the two major chemical fibers.

As you can see from the table, the further to the left you go (leather), the more easily it becomes positively charged, and the further to the right (vinyl chloride), the more easily it becomes negatively charged.

On this chart, the farther apart the positive and negative terminals are, the more likely static electricity is to occur.
Therefore, if you wear a wool sweater and a polyester jacket, static electricity is likely to build up.
Conversely, wearing an acrylic sweater with a polyester jacket, or a wool sweater with a nylon jacket, is less likely to generate static electricity.

Specific measures against static electricity

Here we will introduce what measures you should take against static electricity.

Touch something to release the static electricity

To discharge static electricity, you can touch a wooden floor or a concrete wall.
This is a fairly well-known method of discharging electricity, but since wood and concrete are conductive, the built-up static electricity is released through them.
What's more, it slowly releases electricity.

If you have static electricity built up and you touch something metal (such as a sink or faucet), you will get shocked.
However, if you touch it to a wooden floor or a concrete wall first, it will stop hitting you.

We also recommend touching paper or bricks.

Take measures with static electricity removal products

There seem to be a variety of static electricity removal products available, so I'd like to introduce them to you.

●Anti-static spray, fragrance-free, 160ml

Just a quick spray can remove static electricity.

It's a static electricity removal necklace, but I can't help but wonder if I should really pay about 5,000 yen to remove static electricity.

Every year, I wore a wool sweater and a polyester jacket to work.
I was wondering why I was getting so much static electricity, but now I know the answer.

By the way, I really hate static electricity.
There was a big crack and it was so loud that it could hear me scream!
