A nylon Onibegie® fabric version of lauff, a compact body bag that can also hold a mirrorless camera, has been released.

While maintaining its simple form, the bag is made from soft-colored nylon Onibegie® fabric, creating a natural body bag that can be used by both men and women.

With this in mind, Komatsu Matere began working on a technique to dye synthetic materials such as nylon and polyester with natural materials, a technique that was previously thought to be difficult to achieve.

After testing a variety of vegetables, we found that using onion skin pigment as a base produced effective dyeing.

This is how Onibegie® was born, a product that reuses plant peels and waste materials that would otherwise be discarded, dyeing nylon and polyester while reducing the environmental impact.

Natural and gentle color

The profound colors of nature can only be expressed using plant dyes.

Although it is made of nylon , Onibegie® also has the added benefit of changing in appearance over time, something that cannot be achieved with chemical dyes.

① Less UV reflection and gentle on the eyes

In the ultraviolet range (280-400 nm), items dyed with "Oni-vege" showed lower reflectance than regular dyed and woven items.
Compared to regular dyed products, "Onivege" dyed products have a brightness 0.3 to 0.5 lower, and the color is deeper. In addition, the product absorbs more ultraviolet rays, which reduces the amount of ultraviolet rays that enter the eyes, making it a color that is gentle on the eyes. (Darkening)

The camera is also well protected with 10mm of cushioning material on the bottom, a total of 7mm on the front, 5mm on the back, and 2mm on the sides.

We aimed for a compact size that could hold everything you need for a quick photo shoot on your outing, including your camera, batteries, smartphone, AirPods, cables, etc.

The bag is designed with a zipper that opens all the way to the bottom to make it easy to put things in and take them out, but if it opens too much when you try to put something in or take it out, the contents inside will fall out.

That's why we researched and developed a gusset width that is easy to use and doesn't spread too much to prevent the bag from falling out.

④ A simple design with nothing extra!

We've stripped away everything that isn't necessary and made it as compact as possible.

The zipper pull is made of the same Setouchi leather as the handle, adding a luxurious feel and making the bag easier to hold.

The leather pull handle is exceptionally soft and smooth to the touch.

⑤ Body-fitting structure reduces weight

The shoulder strap is 50mm wide, making it easy to fit to your body.

In addition, the angle can be adjusted to provide a better fit and make your luggage feel lighter.

After repeated prototyping, we found the angle that best fits the body.

[Origin of the name]

The name Lauff comes from the words "laugh" and "ruff."

I named the body bag for mirrorless cameras that I made this time "lauff."

The name is a combination of "laugh" meaning to laugh and "ruff" meaning to be clear.

There are two meanings in the name

① We wanted to get a name from Smile, the YouTuber who helped us out, so we used laugh, which has a similar meaning to Smile's name.

2) Because we feel that this product is Kirifuda (ruff).

We started crowdfunding for the water-repellent leather version in February 2022, and then changed the material and tried out many samples until we finally completed the nylon Onibegie® version.

This is because it is a product that truly embodies our values.

We are taking on this challenge with the belief that the body bag we have created, called "lauff," will bring a smile to everyone's faces.
